It has 27,000 square feet (2,500 m 2) of gaming space, with 970 slot machines and 28 table games. The hotel is four stories, with 107 rooms. There are three eateries at the property.
The Oxford Casino is located at 777 Casino way in Oxford, Maine. It is owned and operated by the famed Churchill Downs company. The Oxford Casino has twenty-seven thousand square feet of casino gaming.
The hotel portion of the Oxford Casino has four floors with a total of one hundred and seven rooms. Plus, there are three food establishments located at the Oxford Hotel and Casino. The plan for the casino was approved in 2010.
The Oxford Casino opened its doors on June 5th, 2012. It opened an expansion in September 2012. It was originally to be called the Black Bear Four Season Resort and Casino.
But, Black Bear Development approved the sale of the casino to Churchill Downs in March 2013 for one hundred and sixty million dollars. The sale was completed in July 2013. Then, in April 2016, Churchill Downs announced their plan to expand the casino in a twenty-five million dollar expansion plan project, which included the addition of a hotel.
The expansion opened in November 2017. It included a hotel, the new dining venues mentioned before, and an expanded gaming floor. Now, it is the Oxford Hotel and Casino we see today.
Oxford Casino Games
One of the most important things to look at when exploring a casino is the casino games offered. And the Oxford Casino Maine is no different. The games offered at the Oxford Casino are:

At this time, Maine has regulated sports betting allowed in the state. It was a surprise when the legislation was passed in the final two days of the legislative session. Maine now has the lowest licensing fee of any state with multiple sports betting operators.
A compromise was offered by the legislature that gave a higher tax rate to online and mobile wagering at sixteen percent. The retail tax rate is ten percent for comparison. This is because mobile and online operators are not paying property taxes.

That means that land-based casinos can apply for licenses to open on-site sports betting locations. It is expected that the Oxford Casino will want to open a sportsbook in a timely fashion. But, if they apply for a sports betting license and are approved, that could change. While the Oxford Hotel and Casino has not announced plans to build a horse racing track, sports betting could allow for horse racing bets. So, if a retail sportsbook opens at the Oxford Casino, customers could potentially bet on horse races there.
Currently, you can bet on horses races at the Scarborough Downs Racetrack and at off-track betting venues in Maine.

The Oxford Hotel and Casino in Maine is one of the newly expanded hotels and casinos in New England. Customers from South Maine will be happy to have such a well-stocked casino so close to them. And, because of previous expansions, we can expect the hotel and casino to keep expanding and adding new features.
Hopefully, the Oxford Hotel and Casino will take advantage of the newly legal sports betting legislation that was approved in the state. Then, the hotel and casino would truly offer all the legal wagering a fan could want. But, the amount of casino games offered is still quite competitive.

Oxford Casino Winners
The Oxford Casino is a hotel and casino in Oxford, Maine, owned and operated by Churchill Downs Inc. It has 27,000 square feet (2,500 m2) of gaming space, with 970 slot machines and 28 table games.[1] The hotel is four stories, with 107 rooms.[2] There are three eateries at the property.[3]
The casino was approved by voters in a statewide referendum in 2010,[4] and opened on June 5, 2012.[5] An expansion opened in September 2012.[6] Early in its development, the project was called the Black Bear Four Season Resort and Casino.[7]
In March 2013, Black Bear Development agreed to sell the casino to Churchill Downs Inc. for $160 million.[8] The acquisition was completed in July 2013.[9]
Churchill Downs announced a $25-million expansion plan for the casino in April 2016, including the addition of a hotel.[10] In November 2017, the hotel, new dining venues, and an expansion of the gaming floor opened.[1][2]
